Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging year, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from that period of 2023.
Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.
Yet the player has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
